Elektra is coming to The Hell’s Kitchen
Netflix and Marvel television have announced Elodie Yung will appear as Elektra in the much awaited season 2 of the hit series Marvel’s The Daredevil. Elektra is known to be the love interest of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Her character is described as a woman from Matt Murdock’s past, whose dangerous ways could be more than even he can handle. The French-Cambodian actress Yung will fill the red boots of Elektra, previously played in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Jennifer Garner.
Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and head of Marvel Television spoke on finding the perfect match in Yung for playing Elektra “After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life,” he also says “…with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”
In the comics, Daredevil and Elektra have an on and off relationship with Daredevil not being particularly fond of her violent nature and mercenary lifestyle. She is master of many Japanese combat forms and her deadly weapon, Okinawan Sai, makes her a very deadly assassin, probably the best in her business. Elektra and Matt Murdock went to the same college and she eventually starts dating Matt Murdock a.k.a Daredevil. She loses hope and faith, when her father gets shot right before her eyes. The Hand, a sect of mystical ninjas trains her as an assassin after recognizing the darkness in her soul.
Elektra became the second addition only after The Punisher played by Jon Bernthal to appear in Marvel’s The Daredevil. It will be interesting to see how Daredevil deals with this relationship with Elektra, will it be too hot to handle for Matt Murdock? But we can say one thing for sure; Daredevil will have his hands full in the season 2 of the series. It also won’t be too long till Wilson Fisk a.k.a Kingpin breaks free from the prison and attempts to take revenge on the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
