Game of Thrones Season 7 Trailer: 7 Things You Might Have Missed
The much-anticipated trailer of The Game of Thrones Season 7 is finally here and it has already started breaking records on its first day. Deadline has reported that the trailer has received the most distributed views for a TV show ever in the first 24 hour period. From the trailer, it seems like we are going to see more than one or two battles and one great war in the upcoming season. The hype around Game of Thrones Season 7 is in full flow. To add to the excitement of the 7th season, Entertainment Weekly published new pictures of some of the characters from the show. Soon after which, HBO released the official poster for Game of Thrones Season 7. If you have not seen the trailer then it’s about time that you do so.
Let’s talk about what we saw in the trailer and things that the viewers might have missed.
House Lannister not going down without a fight
The opening scene opens with the Queen of Kings Landing, Cersei Lannister, revealing that she has enemies in all the four directions of the map. In the east, there is the threat in the form of Daenerys Targaryen depicted by GreyWorm. On the opposite side, there is the Army of Greyjoys depicted by the ship having Theon Greyjoy in it. The Northern part is being occupied by the King in the North, Jon Snow accompanied by Sansa Stark and Ser Davos. It also looks like Arya Stark is also about to reach Winterfell for a reunion with Jon and Sansa. Cersei should expect nothing but revenge from the remaining Stark descendants. Finally, enemies to the south will be none other than the Martells and Tyrells. Even after noticing all these threats Cersei is not ready to back down just yet and states in the trailer that “Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it.”
Homecoming of Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys Targaryen has finally made a return to Dragonstone, the same place which she had abandoned as a child. In the trailer, she is seen as occupying the throne of Dragonstone which gives the Iron Throne a real run for its money. Melisandre has also seemed to found her way to Dragonstone. This is probably the first sort of connection for the anticipated meeting of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. Melisandre might be the person who opens Daenerys’s eyes to supernatural threats of White Walkers looming in the North.
Hitting the Lannisters where it hurts the most
Daenerys Targaryen has started her first step towards the Iron Throne of Kings Landing by ordering the Unsullied to occupy Casterly Rock known to be the stronghold of Lannisters for many years. Losing Casterly Rock to Daenerys Targaryen might spell out the beginning of the end of Cersei Lannister’s reign. On the other front, Dothrakis are seen to be attacking Lannister Troops to occupy Kings Landing and they seem to be getting a little help from Dragon.
Lord Baelish being his manipulative self
In the trailer, we observe Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish telling Sansa Stark that “Your father and brothers are gone, yet here you stand. The last best hope against the coming storm.” There is one thing that we can expect in every season of Game of thrones is that Lord Baelish will always play his little mind games. This time he lurks in the shadows and tries to manipulate Sansa Stark into opposing Jon Snow’s reign. He tries playing his mindgames on Jon Snow in the Winterfell crypt but Jon has none of it and chokes Lord Baelish instead.
The return of Jorah Mormont
In the trailer, we can see a hideous looking left hand popping out from a window of a door. This hand is most likely to be of Jorah Mormont and it clearly looks like he has not found a cure for his greyscale problem. Will he continue to search for a cure for his hand? or will he return to his beloved Daenerys Targaryen when she needs him the most for mounting an attack on Kings Landing? Jorah Mormont might be in a bit of a pickle here.
The union of Martells and Greyjoys
In the trailer, we can see Yara of House Greyjoy and Ellaria Sand making out. Could this be the beginning of the unconventional union between House Greyjoy and House Martell? or is it just one more of those kisses of death by Ellaria Sand?
Run Jon Run
Towards the ending scenes of the trailer we can see Jon Snow and Tormund running away probably from the White Walker. This scene might be one from the end of the season 7 when the great war had finally begun. The most important words were said by Ser Davos in the trailer “If we don’t put aside our enmities and band together, we will die. And then it doesn’t matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne.”
