Chris Pine has been cast as Steve Trevor . The American actor will star opposite Gal Gadot as the Amazonian princess’s love interest. This Star Trek star has joined the DC movie universe on a planned trilogy. The movie is scheduled to release in 2017 and is being directed by Patty Jenkins . Chris Pine is best known for his role as James T Kirk in the reboot Star Trek (2009) and its sequel Star Trek Into Darkness (2013).
The role he’ll play in the Wonder Woman movie, for now, is under wraps, though it is believed that he’ll only be appearing as a supporting character to the Wonder Woman. The fact that he’ll be playing a supporting character is apparent as Wonder Woman is a female superhero movie. Wonder Woman will be introduced in next year’s “Batman v/s Superman: Dawn of Justice ” before her solo movie hits theatres in 2017.
Like Wonder Woman herself, Trevor’s backstory has seen many reboots : but in the original 1941 comic, he is an intelligence officer in the United States military. Though a military man with experience in the field, storylines involving Steve and Wonder Woman typically involved inversions of the damsel in distress trope, with Wonder Woman coming to Steve’s rescue. Since DC’s 2011 reboot, Steve is portrayed as a senior government agent and super spy whose close connections with Wonder Woman makes him the Unites States liaison to the Justice League.
Before Chris Pine Liam Hemsworth and Alexander Skarsgard were considered to play the role of Steve Trevor. It is as yet unknown if Pine’s Trevor will make an appearance in the upcoming “Batman v/s Superman: Dawn of Justice “. Pine is currently preparing to return as Captain James T Kirk for the third time in Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond. It will be interesting to see how Chris Pine portrays the character of Steve Trevor without playing a lead role.
