After a series of brilliant peekaboo teases, Marvel and Netflix finally released the full-length trailer for Jessica Jones. The first episode debuted at New York Comic Con earlier this month. Krysten Ritter finally emerges as Jessica Jones in this spot, a wounded former superhero now just trying to get by.
The trailer takes us through a dark world where we finally see her full extent of Jones’s superpowers. Her troubled past as her superhero career was also revealed as she was seen with her hands bloodied from the time Purple Man used his mind control powers on her and made her do wrong things. She also meets Mike Colter’s “Luke Cage” and has a steamy scene with him in the trailer.
She is also seen having flashbacks of the time Killgrave a.k.a Purple Man had controlled her mind, of which the scars have not healed yet. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Patsy “Trish” Walker. In the comics, Patsy Walker is the superhero known as Hellcat, but that doesn’t appear to be part of this character’s background who is described as “a syndicated radio talk show host, former model, and child TV star known to her adoring fans as “Patsy” Walker. As Jessica Jones’ closest friend, Trish helps her embark on the most dangerous case of Jessica’s career.”
There’s blood, sex, fire, gunshots, broken glass, and one creepy stalkerish poster — it’s all pretty chilling, goose-bump-inducing stuff. And there’s Jones’s final line, which seals the deal:
“God didn’t do this, the devil did. And I’m going to find him.” she says.
Netflix premiered the first episode at New York Comic-Con earlier this month, and, judging from the performances, the atmosphere, and the writing, the series has every chance to be as excellent as Daredevil. Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix on November 20th.
