In the past few weeks, there were rumors that Rachel McAdams was close to taking up a role in Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Rachel McAdams has now confirmed that she is in talks with Marvel to occupy a role in the movie. When asked about the recent speculation, Rachel McAdams spoke with Los Angeles Times “its super early days, and I don’t know where that’s going to go – if it’s going to go anywhere at all.” Rachel McAdams will join co stars Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor if the talks go well. Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor will play the Ancient One and Baron Mordo respectively.
Doctor Strange will be the first movie of Marvel Phase 3, to be followed by a series of Marvel movies. The role hasn’t been officially confirmed for Rachel McAdams but there is a possibility, she might take up the role of Clea, the love interest of Doctor Strange.
Rachel McAdams as Clea
Clea is known to be the partner and love interest of Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Clea is the daughter of Umar and the niece of Dormammu (known to be worse than a demon). She hails from the Dark Dimension and began liking Doctor Strange after seeing his courage. In the comics, Clea is also known as “mysterious silver-haired girl”, which further suggests that Rachel McAdams will play the role.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige already talked about, how he thinks of bringing Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe “The existence of different dimensions is essentially the whole Crux of Doctor Strange.” Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man teased the concept of Quantum Realm which relates to different dimensions that exist in the world.
The casting Rachel McAdams as Clea has certainly got us excited about the possibilities in the Movie. In the comics, she has a very integral role in Doctor Strange’s world.
