Finally, we have received some information on the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and it looks like Marvel is going to introduce some big characters to the Marvel Cinematic UniverseMarvel has announced more casting for 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, revealing who will join the Asgardian God of Thunder on his next adventure. They have confirmed that Cate Blanchett will play the mystical Asgardian goddess of death, Hela and Tessa Thompson will take up the role of Valkyrie. Additionally  Jeff Goldblum and Karl Urban have joined the cast as Grandmaster and Skurge, respectively. The announcement also confirms that Mark Ruffalo will appear in the film as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Several of the cast members from the earlier Thor movies will make a return. These include Loki, Hiemdall, Odin and Thor played by Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and Chris Hemsworth respectively.

Marvel Producer Kevin Fiege released a statement with the recent announcement “The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet. The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.

Hela played by Cate Blanchett will be the first major female villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before her, the only other female villain was Nebula played by Karen Gillan in the Guardians of the Galaxy. She worked under Ronan the Accuser and is the adopted daughter of Thanos. Introducing Skurge in the movie can be really important to the movie. In the comics, he is a soldier of Asgard and wields a magical double bladed axe. He could be the cue to introduce Amora the Enchantress to the MCU.  Tessa Thompson taking up the mantle of Valkyrie makes her Marvel’s second superheroine of color, and she’s set to replace Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster as Thor’s love interest.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to hit the theaters on November 3rd, 2017.
